One brace at
a time, for Joe as a baby horse, seemed plenty and it was most time for
lunch. Besides, Kita's second brace (with her dog Dozer) was up soon. I did not have enough independent
control over Joe to keep him from pestering Jenny while Kita was handling so Joe went back to his tie-out. I walked Kita's
brace and took some distance photos (I opted to skip the soft dirt rough parts of the walk). Some photos are ok, some the dogs
are distant specks only.
This brace out walked me to the point, I had no chance of staying with them. So I
drifted to the easier walking level parts. I was headed back up the hill after the brace, mostly going the toward
"finish" line. I happened to glance back and saw a horse with no rider - must have belonged to one of the young men I'd seen
earlier on horseback. I felt obligated to try and catch the horse. The result of that effort, put me in the path of the start for
the next brace. By then the horse had gone up hill to be caught by one of the folks in camp. I opted to walk sideways to try and get
out of the way of the next brace. I later apologized for blocking the route and slowing down an already long day. The judge
said I did ok, getting out of the way. Actually I'd not been recognized at that distance, so maybe I should have just stayed quiet.
The photos on this
page were taken after Dozer's brace got too far away to see well, but horses
and dogs can be seen as specks in some of the photos below:
