Rio Salado 2002 Spring Field Trial - Camping area

16 Feb 2002 Saturday AZ Field trail.
Shella and I went to our first field trail today. I was very nervous that I would mess up somehow. We all had a good time. Shella wisely had us start about 8 am Friday to drive about 450 miles from San Diego to
the Prescott area of AZ. We shared driving duties and had a tiring, but safe journey. Shella read the AKC Field Trial Rule to me as started the drive, to try and get the written procedures in our heads. Still, it is hard to understand all of the rules and what things mean without experience. After that we listened to a James Herriot Dog stories. Part of the time Shella drove, I napped. We also listened to some music CDs.
We arrived in time to find the Field trial grounds in daylight and take the dogs for a short run to let them stretch after the long drive. We talked a bit with Rita Mathers, who has been very helpful for us beginners.
