Rio Salado 2002 Spring Field Trial - VCA Conformation Test

After dinner, Farli was checked for the conformation portion of the VCA tests by Lynn Worth. She passed with a healthy score. So maybe we will earn our VC someday. She needs one more leg of a CD or another pass on VCA obedience and two more passes on the VCA field test. Or I could decide to run her in senior and see what happens.

Then it was too dark to complete the conformation test (Kukui and Robbie will have their turn tomorrow)

The judges gave general commentary and placements were announced. My ears perked up when they said there was an "honorable mention", I thought perhaps we had a chance at that award. I was a tad disappointed when another dogs name was called. Fourth was called and then they called third - Blackwoods' Linden Farli - boy was I excited. Shella and Kita whooped and clapped to share my happiness. Gee our very first field trial and we got a placement - too cool.

I am still thrilled. I am afraid I was a pest asking Al Lucas and Smitty questions on how to improve and did this detail detract from the over all performance. They were very patient with me.

Tomorrow there are 7 braces in amateur gun dog. I hope Farli puts in the run she did for the VCA field tests - it was more impressive than her Gun Dog run, with more enthusiasm. Perhaps I'll try riding a horse tomorrow. I hope that does not confuse her.

Well, we will have fun not matter what happens
